Ya-ua

Okay, so you may be wondering why the title of this post is foreign gibberish. Well, it's how you pronounce yogurt in Vietnamese. :) YES, IT'S HAPPENING, I'm actually sticking to my promise and teaching you guys how to make this awesome (slightly unhealthy) yogurt despite the fact I still need to do two more revision sheets in preparation for my Math test on Wednesday. But hey, I've been doing Maths all day and had to commemorate my uncle's death anniversary. So 'Cau Binh', if you're reading this somewhere up there, I hope you're as happy and carefree as the last time I met you when I was about 5. :) Okay, sob story over. YOGHURT TIME.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of condensed milk (Nestle will do fine)
  • 1 or 2 can loads of milk (shit, I can't remember this, I will confirm with my mum tomorrow, since she's asleep).
  • 2 can loads of boiling water
  • 1 cup of ready made ya-ua, you can buy at Asian grocery stores.
Method:
  1. Pour the can of condensed milk into a LARGE bowl.
  2. Pour in the 2 can loads of boiling water. Mix until condensed milk has dissolved.
  3. Pour in the 1 or 2 can loads of milk. Mix thoroughly again.
  4. Pour in the ready made ya-ua/Viet yogurt. Yes, mix again.
  5. Use a ladle to ladle ladlefuls of yoghurt into plastic cups (about 7 or 8 should be enough) (Make sure these cups have lids).
So it should look something similar to this, at this step. :)

  1. Put all the cups with the hot yogurt into a huge ass pot. Like really big.
  2. Depending on the size of the pot and the height of the cups, make sure the water is like 3/4 boiling water and 1/4 cold water. E.g. If you measured that your pot needed to be filled up to 1L, then poor 750mls of boiling water and then 250mls of cold water. By the way, make sure the water in the pot doesn't reach up to the actual yogurt cup.
  3. Put the pot into the pantry and cover it with like fleecy blankets or wooly material and leave it there for about a night.
  4. In the morning, put the yoghurt cups in the fridge and they should be ready to eat. :)
ALRITEY DEARIES, BACK TO HOMEWORK NOW! LOVE YOU! :)

MAARY.

P.S. If you have any other questions regarding this seriously horribly written recipe then feel free to comment 'cause I'm feeling lonely. :( OKAY BYE! GOODNIGHT! :)
